Gear selection

Hey guys and gals looking for a bit of advice please,

Just fitted a new steering rack to my 91 cabby , once fitted I now cannot select 1st gear ?? I tried adjusting the spline on the selector but have made it even worse.

It was never great before selecting 1st and 2nd but was drivable, I feel there is not enough movement left and right ,when in neutral ?? Can this be a bush worn ?? Or is there anyway to rectify this issue ??
