Engine help please

Hi guys

Ive recently brought a A reg mk1 golf GTI which requires a new cylinder head.

Its had a engine swap by a previous owner at some stage,The car now has a early mk2 golf GTI engine (ev code) which has the cylinder head with hydrolic tappets ( code 026103373G).

My question is.. can I use a earlier mk1 dx head fine with the ev engine? not really fussed about hydrolic tappets again.

Any info would be great!

short answer yes
long answer 2 things may differ the port for air shrouded injection system and the injector inserts.

if there is a port between cylinders 3 and 4 on one but not the other just cap off

with the inserts chances are they'll be the same but if not you may have to remove the top hat from your injectors as it may not fit properly in the older head. im 95% sure it'll be fine, but I havent got access to check on ETKA right now
