Clutch wont disengage?

Due to having a new baby and moving house my MK1 has been parked up since September last year.
I started it up and tried to move it but i could not get it into gear.
Switched the engine off and put it into gear and then tried to start it(with clutch pushed in) but it would just jerk forward, obviously the clutch is stuck for some reason?

Any thoughts what is causing this and how to get it sorted out?
