Hi Just got a MK1 Driver with 2L 16 V ABF Conversion. (1983)

Read a few posts so come to the conclusion that Bilstein B4 OE dampers with H&R SPRINGS is the best set up…does anyone have this ,and how is it ????

Thanks

I've gone with B4 shocks and eibach pro springs, just done the back and seems good, much better than standard shocks with the cheapo lowering springs that I removed.

If you want to keep it standard height then use the original VW set up, VW spent alot of time and money getting it just right for everyday use, I use my car as daily and glad I went back the the standard set up. If you are lowering a little then the B4 shocks and eibach pro springs sems the way to go as I've only ever heard good things about them.

I've Koni dampers and eibach springs lowered about 30mm, seems a nice handling set up.

Koni and eibach have been the recommended pairing for as long as I can remember

i have coilovers on, so no OE suspension.   Just seem to get inserts for Front dampers, so cant get Bilstein or Koni front shocks.:ocf_emoticons__BangHead:.

What would we recommend , WEITEC ULTRA GT or KW shock and spring combo…………………………….

tHANKS;)

Just bought ST SPORT SUSPENSION (made by KW) 40MM all round….as needed complete front dampers, not just inserts….so lets see

Going to upgrade suspension on my Mk1 very soon, (Bilstein B4's and Eibach pro-kit springs) - is it a necessity to upgrade the rest of the system when this is done, i.e. strut mounts, bump stops etc.? If not is it just a good idea to do it anyway?
