Pondering on what size and fitment would work on a sportline, so anyone running 16x8`s et35 or et25……?

cheers

7.5x16 et20 up front and 9x16 et15 round the back. You might need to space the front to ET20 to clear the strut. Then the  problem with 16's are limited tyre sizes. You'll need to run 165 up front for clearance or you'll poke/rub. 195/40 at the rear should be OK though.

Wouldn't 165 tyres be very narrow on a 7 1/2" wide rim? How would your insurance stand if involved in an accident running them?

Pretty much the same as any other modification. If they could prove the stretch was the cause of the accident then you may have an issue.

Having run stretch tyres on many cars over many years including a drift car going sideways at 70mph I really wouldn't worry on my golf.

I was thinking 8's with et25 running 195-40 tyre would be ok but unsure on the width clearing the strut…..? Et25 won't poke out….

7.5j et20 poke on mine so 8j et25 have 2.5mm more poke  by my calculations. The above pic doesn't show it but I'm running a bit  (-2 deg) of camber up front to get them tucked. The rear is at -3 deg.

I had to space my 7.5j 5mm to clear both the strut and caliper. I suspect you'll have to do the same. If so you'll be at 7.5mm more poke than me.
