Weber cutting out at junctions.....

Post

hi thanks for looking,

im new to all this and have a '90 clipper cabby with a weber carb fitted. It takes a bit of cranking to start but then idles ok. I drove it home today and it's cuts out when I stop, then it's a pig to start again nearly killing the battery :'(there is a vacuum pipe from the rear of the carb to the rear most nipple on the left of the air box which had popped off, when I connected it again, it improved idle, but when I blip the throttle, it then dives the revs and stutters and stalls.
i also noticed the fuel return line from the swirl is full of air….. Is this normal?

Any advice is a godsend

try removing the swirl pot and blocking the return, if its much better a restrictor inserted in the return pipe will probably sort it for you, 0.8mm welding tip seems to be recommended. basically the swirl pot should have a restrictor in it but this often goes missions over the years. the weber seem to be more affected by this than the 2e2 for whatever reason
