Settling In
doing my nut in now
Hoping someone can help with getting this setup a little better. I have the 1.5JB code engine, rebuilt with new stem seals and valves. compression seems ok with 150, 155,145,150 psi across the cylinders. timing is fine as ive gunned that in at around 6 deg BTDC and running an electronic ignition now.
Fuel lines seem fine and there is plenty of fuel getting to the carb (maybe too much!!)
ive also split the carb and checked that the floats are ok, which they are.
I know that i have the location of the idle adjustment screw as its the hand windable effort next to the accelerator cable
so the problem is that i can get it started but anywhere between 10 and 60 seconds later it just cuts out and i struggle to get it started again. If i continue to try and start it, it spits fuel out of the top of the carb and generally sounds terrible. wont idle properly and again just cuts out. Checked the spark plugs and they are dry but sooty which may mean that shes running rich?
Can anyone tell me where to adjust the fuel/air mixture on these carbs? ive added some pics for reference.
