Idiot newby with usual problem

Looks a good job mate, might make some money out of buying a load and getting that done!

You're right about the bending, I had loads of flat spots, that's why when I found one I swapped it out!

Send us a photo of how it fits at the filler end when you've got it one, and don't do what I did and forget to fit the breather and put the wheel back on..

Well I went a different route in the end. I used the sorter neck (it seemed to fit better) and bought a longer flexible universal fuel hose to connect to the tank which I cut it to size. It's actually designed for marine vessels and much thicker and tougher than the original Golf one. I bit of a swine to get on but job jobbed!

Glad you managed to sort it out in the end.
Picture of my Mk1 tintop one cut and welded back together then painted in Epoxy mastic, stone chip paint, under seal then finally a coat of waxoyl! I don't want to be doing it again for a long time or until cabriolet filler necks are the same price as tin top filler necks as I would guess there is more cabriolets on the roads compared to the tin top Mk1s?
