mk1 supersprint backbox fitting problems

Afternoon Chaps.

I have just got a supersprint exhaust system for my MK1 golf and I am struggling to fit the back box as it seems to long! The box itself measures approximately 47cm in length which to me seems about 7cm to long as when fit the exhaust sticks out the rear valance miles and also doesn't line up with the rear mount!

If anyone has the supersprint backbox could they measure it and let me know the length of the box? I've heard nothing but good things about the fitment on the supersprint exhaust so am a little surprised it's not a straight fit!

Also any pics of the backbox fit would be a bonus

what year is your car, I think there's different exhaust etc for late and early cabby - around 1986-1988???

Sorry, i should of said. It's a Feb 1984 3dr tintop which was a 1.1 but now has a 2.0 ABF in.

The Supersprint back box i have is part number 322324
