Mk1 GTi Fuel Tank Packing Kit

In preparation for my underside rebuild, I have a newly powdercoated fuel tank, but the tank packings (the rubber pieces that slot over the edge of the tank) are looking pretty shabby and will ruin the look of it.  Having looked on VAGCAT, there used to be a tank packing kit but this doesn't seem to be available.

Does anybody know if you can still buy these anywhere, or what you could use as a suitable alternative?

Those rubber strips for the edges of tank look very like the push on trim around the door shut/frame. They also on the front chassis just behind headlamp.
