They have an auxiliary air valve on the back of the plenum, a bimetallic disk that closes off the air with heat.
Might be a simple as a perished rubber seal or carboned up idle screw on the back of the throttle body, take it out and check the seal and clean it.

The auxiliary air valve only "works" during warm up. Its purpose is to increase the idle speed (slightly) during initial warm up. On the "plenum" there are two adjustments. Firstly an "air" screw, not easily seen at first because its fairly hidden ! If you see where the throttle cable attaches then look "down the back" you should see a brass coloured screw with maybe a hex top. I used a 8mm to adjust (if I remember). There is also a "base idle" adjustment on the plenum ... Basically there is a micro switch that should be closed on the "over run" (throttle closed) if the adjustment is correct you can just hear the switch clicking, as you close the throttle .....

Adjust the idle speed up to 1200 rpm then lower it to 950-1000 rpm using the idle screw at the back of the throttle body. You may have a perished idle screw rubber which is making the idle screw lose and it adjusts the idle speed on its own.

old flat rubber.

new o ring fitted.
