Fuel Starvation problem?

Hello, just wondering if someone can offer advice/suggestions for my engine problem.  I have a Mk1 88 Clipper 1.6 auto, that I'm trying to get back on the road.  The car was given to me by a friend and had been standing idle for sometime.  When I acquired the car, the engine would run and cut out after a few minutes.  I put this down to the fact it had a rusty fuel neck, so changed that and cleaned the tank out too.  I also replaced the fuel filter, however the problem remained the same.  I then had someone look at the Carb for me.  It seemed in good order and the jets were clean with no blockages. We also checked the fuel lines the same time and there didnt appear to be any blockages there either.  I then had the car crypton tuned and was told that the fuel pressure was low.  The guy seemed to think it was to do with the vapour separator thing mounted to the front of the engine, so I replaced that, but still had the same problem - (if anything even worse than before as the car now cuts out after about 30 seconds). I've since changed the fuel pump, which again has made no difference at all.  I'm not mechanically minded. It seems that the problem is a fuel starvation problem of some kind, but I could be wrong and was therefore wondering if somebody could kindly point me in the right direction?

Cheers
