Not sure what year your car is, but my 1983 handbook says

Fuse no.from left to right
7 tail and side lights left
8 tail and sidel lights right
9 high beam right and warning light
10 high beam left
21 low beam left
22 low beam right

So if your set up is the same can't be fuse that is issue.

Do the side lights work if you just switch them on alone with out ignition on? If so and then all goes out when you switch headlights on with ignition on, could be a faulty earth - mine did something similar if I remember rightly  when connections at back of instrument panel became loose, also affected MFA and other warning lights started to glow dimly.

had a look at the car on my lunch, replaced a rear side light bulb as noticed this wasn't working the other day and though I would start simple,

Replaced that and then tested vehicle still no dipped beam at the front and rear side light - seem to have intermittent indicator on RHS and reverse light.

went to fuse box and found fuse number 8 blown attempted replacing and blew another fuse, disconnected both rear headlamps and blew another fuse.

Disconnected the vehicle headlamp switch and the fuse didn't blow !!!!

stripped the headlamp switch and put terminal cleaner on the whole thing and fitted it to vehicle blew the fuse straight away !!!

anyone had anything like this or can advise which earths to check ??? I am a bit stumped :(

A long shot, but could water have got into the fuse box at any time. It may be the box itself that's the problem if water has got in.

the fact your fuse 8 blows points to a short in the headlight or rear lighting loom, its not the switch or wiring to it as those are before the fuse and instead you would have melty wiring!

hopefully the dealer can sort it if not come back and we'll carry on with the diagnostics ;)
