DX engine Microswitch

Post

Hi All,

Does anyone know where I can get the microswitch that sits on the underside of the throttle body of a 8valve DX engine. This switch controls the throttle enrichment when the engine is cold. Mine has lost the little tit that operates the switch. The switch is always s/circuit consequently messes up the mixture. I am having trouble getting the engine to tick over until its warmed up and apart from the air bypass valve (which I haven`t taken out yet) this is the only thing I have found not working. The switch has a green cable moulded into it and a 2 pin socket on the end.
I have tried to fit alternatives but the spacing to the metal support bracket is non standard.
The lump is in a `89 rocco which I got hold of recently and am in the process of overhauling for my wife to use as her daily ride. Her current Rocco (`91) has 200,000+ miles and is getting tired. This one will replace hers and I would be rebuilding her old car as a project in the summer.
I hope someone can help

Best Wishes

Gerry

Hello and welcome..
I may have one but will have to check its still attached to the spare inlet manifold I have.

the cold throttle enrichment isnt the problem here, this should only spray a bit of fuel when engine is cold, and only if you floor it (the vacuum switch on rear of airbox assembly detects throttle load). it should do nothing at idle. to fully disable it unplug the idle switch and your car will be like older 8v kjet engines without the system

have a look thru this thread, ignore the 16v specific stuff just look at the kjet bits:

Hi, Thanks for the info. I have been going through the whole system to find why the engine will not fast idle when cold. apart from the bypass valve which I haven`t took out yet to properly test, this was the only thing I found amiss. The injection system is ultra reliable. The current daily ride `91 Scala has only ever had one problem in the last 12 years. That was when I fitted a replacement head from a lump I bought off e-bay. I couldn`t get any fuel up to the injectors. It turned out to be the injector shrouds were broken due to the idiot who removed the injectors using a screwdriver as leverage up the inlet ports. As there was a leak, the valve in the metering head would not lift so fuel would reach the injectors. At the time I couldn`t get the shrouds anywhere pt no 049-103-663. I found some in the States at a truck dealer who kindly sent them over. I had all his stock (9)at a cost of $23 shipped–result! The problem with the `89 DX may be electrical–all the bi metals read o.k but there may be a missing or busted wire somewhere in the system. The car has been messed about with a lot and I`m going through it and ripping out useless wiring mods and putting it back to stock. I hate bodgers!! I hope the weather improves soon so I can get some serious work done. Will keep you posted and thanks again
Best Wishes

good luck! can be tricky tracking down kjet issues especially without the fuel pressure gauges :(
