Post

Hi Guys. I have just finished making a decent set of clocks for my mk1 gti cabby. I purchased one of ebay with the mfa feature and have mananged to swap over the speedo from my orignal to the "new" one.
The problem I have now is the rev counter doesn't work!!. I now the wirings good as I plug my old one in and it works fine. I suspect its the printed circuit on the new clocks. Does anyone know of anywhere or anyone that can repair/ test this as my electrical repair skills are somewhat lacking and i want to get it all up and running!!

Many thanks matt

Hi matt - did you get the clocks working?

I had issues with my clocks and particular the blue flimsy printed circuit board. These are a rare item and very unpredictable. In the end my problem was a simple fault but I suggest a good electronic engineer who can get the multimeter out and spend some time on it. He should be able to check all your connections and the electronic components as well.

I believe the 'rev' is provided each time the plug sparks, so the needle in theory is jumping up to the rev value and back to zero. Because this is happening so quick, the needle never returns to zero and so you get a constant rev count.

Maybe Im wrong and somebody will be along to correct me…!
