Or Audi, The Buttons used to be avail at a Car Parts store where they sell the glue. To get the button off
get a good scraper tool, or a sharp chisel and a hammer.
Pull all the glue off the button and use clear RTV (silicone) to glue it back in place. Hold the button in place over night with tape.
(CLEAR RTV?… Are you out of your mind?) Well they glue aquariums glass with it, and I have done this to my diesel bunny and it lasted over 15 years,,,I sold the car before it ever fell off.
Works better lasts longer… Just use mirror and a Sharpie marker to outline the mirror where you want it to be (evenly between the shades) then transfer that mark to the front side of the glass. Clean the glass with Laquer Thinner or 100 proof Alcohol… The a drollop of Clear RTV Press it in to the window it should ooze out on the sides, then Apply Tape to hold it.
Once the RTV hardens you can Trim the excess off with a x-acto knife.
Then to keep your RTV fresh as a daisy and not harden in the tube:

You can buy the mirror new from VW Heritage for around £55, then the base plate is around £12 new from VW/TPS, the Grub Screw is around £6 from VW/TPS and the adhesive is around £10 from VW/TPS (or £5 for some Loctite stuff).
Not cheap for a mirror. I thought you'd pick one up for around £10. Obviously not.
The mirror is also shared with the MK1/2 Scirocco and old Audi Coupe (think UR Quattro shape).

The OE mirror is rubbish anyway, the way it slots onto the base with the grub screw is slack. Such a poor design.
