leaky seals

i have a 1992 1.6 gti tin top, i9s letting in a lot of water, it was coming through the door so I fitted new plastic to stop it comeinig in the car. that helped a lot, now there is water comeing into the front of the car and also through the boot lid. it has ruined my fuse box and needs fixed asap!! whats the best thing to do with the seals?? get new ones or try reseal them. is it a common problem> any help would be much appreciated!!
