Glove box lock

Post

Hello,

I need some help with the glove box lock. I have the actual locking mechanism but I'm missing the part that it clips into to hold it down. I've had a look online but couldn't find what I'm looking for….for that matter, I don't even know what the piece I'm missing looks like O_o. I'll pop some pictures below but if anyone is able to help me out by pointing me in the direction of the part or taking a photo of theirs so I can see what is missing, that would be great!

As you can see there is something missing from that hole.

Thanks!

Alex.

Yep there's a clip missing there, I'll try and get a picture of what you are looking for at the weekend.

A quick search on line and you need part No 14. Strange it's listed as a sealing bearing so not sure if the part number is right. 171857133C

might be worth giving your local Vw dealer a call to find out if they can still get it, vw heritage list it but no picture so not sure if it's the right bit.

Thanks Mark1gls, you're a star! The website you linked to is great, by the looks of it, it could be part 11. A picture would be great, thanks for your help! I'll pop into my local VW dealer and see if they still make it. Failing that I'll get vwheritage to send a photo of the part they are selling and match it to any pictures I see haha.

No worries…. The website is great for finding part numbers and usually very good but this page is a little confusing…
It could also be part 13 - catch….

I've got a part number for you, I took my catch out and it has a number on the back.

Ill up load the pictures when my wife finishes her work and gets off the laptop so I get the pictures off the camera.
There is a screw and washer holding the catch on they are no.16 and 17 (don't know why there is 2 part numbers for the screw) I guess any old screw and washer will fit.

Thanks mark1gls   I'm going to my local dealer on Wednesday for a reserving light switch so I'm going to see if they have any/can order them in. If not, its scouring the internet for it haha!
