floppy adjustable wing mirror 90 cabriolet

hi there .my drivers wing mirror has become a bit floppy as in its loose from years of folding in,i took it off the car hoping it had some form of tightning up .but all there seems to be is a row of washers or some sort of spring where the cable adjusters go in.i tried tightening /turning the washers by using thin mole grips but alas no difference nothing is seized or rusty either .

does anyone have any ideas if this can be tightened up so the mirror stops swinging about as its a real pain when driving .

thanks

I've not tried to be honest Stuart.
I'd just pick up another one mate and have done with it!

Had same issue, one of the washers had collapsed. I did try repairing but as that area is rather tight I eventually bought a replacement mirror.
