Which is the best gearbox to use in the KR conversion, the original 8v or the Jetta’s 16v ? I guess to have the MFA on the original clocks working I’ll need to use the 9A
Can you swap 5th gear from the 16v box into the 8v box to give the taller 5th gear?
thanks

On my ABF 16v I have the CDA from the mk3 golf GTi with the hydraulic clutch, G60 flywheel and VR6 clutch 👌🏽

I'm not planning to change that much, although having just put my TT back on the road I'm liking the 20vt…

I would use the 8v box you can swap to a taller 5th but not from the 16v box

So it seems the 9A and 2Y gearboxes are pretty similar, with the 9A actually having a taller 5th the the 16v box, 0.89 v 0.91

Ive not done it yet but got a 4s to swap 5th into my 9a. Had a 2y on a kr and was high revving in 5th, fitted an Aug box and felt better. Tried a long ratio box but felt lazy
