Budget Coilovers - Buying help needed please!

Hi All,

As the title suggests, eventually will be buying the full bells and whistles set from somewhere! Sometime!

Until then….

Would like to get the look I desire in the interim without damaging my car. Ideally would like to keep the cost to around £200, obviously eBay is laced with products in this price braket but I be dammed if i knew anything about any of them!

Any past experiences of wisdom would be greatly received.

Looking to drop between 20mm - 40mm (I think!) so adjustable would be useful.

I had race land coilies which did a minimum drop of about 30mm I think, but when fully wound like that the helper spring was fully compressed and it made the suspension rock hard as a result. I think lowering springs seem the sensible option for a small drop without destroying the ride.

Why not just buy some good lowering springs, they will be cheaper than £200.

What springs? I think my shocks are a bit pants (I.e… Worn) so I thought a coilover set would take care of it all in one go.

Found a chap on instagram with these, spent a bit of time talking to him about comfort etc… Seem to be good!

Comes with a 2 year Warranty also

Ap are the best budget for comfort and build quality. Ebay will sort you out

If you do change to coilovers might be best to keep hold of the old complete struts front and back in case you do change back to springs and shocks at a later date.

I would just get shocks and springs. Eibach -35mm springs set you back £160, new shocks on each corner £100. Sachs or boge are fine. Slightly more than cheap coilovers but it will be comfortable. Or a set of h&rs for £120 or so, think they are -40mm springs. JMHO.

Will be making my purchase at the end of March, hopefully this thread will receive some further feedback and a collective viewpoint could help sway me to the right purchase.
