1.8t conversion?

help please

Hi guys been reading through the 1.8t conversion guides
Just wondering if its best to buy a complete doner car and take everything off that?

if so what should I go for a3 or mk4

Can you just swap the lump and splice the looms together and make it work after swapping a few parts. Tensioner, belt, downpipe ect.
is there much welding involved?

Or would it be a complete waste of cash buying the whole car. Also what sort of time bracket am I looking at?

Ive got plenty of people with knowledge of swapping engines to hand for help.

Devon dub shack is local to me if I get really stuck

Is the swap worth taking on as a newbee or is it relatively straight forward? Cheers ben

Hi there Pal,

Im recently new to this forum and there's a lot of smart people on this site who can help you with the 1.8T conversion as they themself have done it or have great knowledge about it.

Talk to 'rubjonny' about looms etc he can make them up to fit the mk1 fuse box basically and conversion loom.

Also check crazy quiff and ebay for engine mounts as they are available of the shelf.

Im a newbee and know nothing about engine conversions and to be honest what I've learnt from this site and with asking question I feel pretty competent in doing my own.

Engine wise its upto yourself i went with a AGU motor as thats what alot of people seem to go for, but im sure other people will pick the BAM motor.

Other people will have different advance take it will on board, hope this helps pal. :)

either a3 or mk4 fine, basically the same car underneath so makes no odds there. auditt also but more expensive, or seat cupra but rarer.

for mk4 type loom splicing:
