Broke down at the front of the queue on a T junction.. lol

The old girl just broke down twice on the way home. Going over a bumpy road makes the car really jerky and jumpy when I give it some throttle to the point where I have to clutch in and rev the car until the idle will settle high enough again. If the road is really bumpy it actually cuts out as if it's run out of fuel and then won't start as if it's flooded.

When it does finally start again I have to give it plenty of revs to get it to start properly but then it will drive fine until I get to the next bumpy road lol.

When I broke down today I noticed the coil was a bit loose, but I can't help thinking that's too simple.

Has anyone come across this before?

Dirt or rust flakes sediment in the tank getting dislodged when going over bumpy ground and getting sucked into the fuel system and blocking some essential jet, etc?

I dunno because if I catch it soon enough and blip the throttle it will sort itself out. I would of thought if it was rust it wouldn't go again until I cleaned the system out. I'm at a loss really, don't know where to start.

Loose connections/ earth faults?

Yea maybe, I know the main earth is sound but the wires to the coil aren't the best. Definitely something to heck tomorrow.

alrighty then, fitting one may help, but then again many delete them with no issues!  is the fuel return capped off as well?

Sorry for the delay, Yeah the fuel return is capped off.

When I got the car the crank case breather was pointing at the floor. When I had the carb rebuilt the guy who did it put it back on. He mentioned every now and then it may try and cut out (hence the previous owner moving it), but generally it will run better with it connected to the airbox.

I took that with a pinch of salt to be honest, could it actually affect it?

It would run worse (in theory) with it dissconnected because it is pumping oil vapour and exhast gasses into the inlet making it slight lett effieicent at running, when you pisting rings get really worn like mine the crankcase breather going into your inlet will oil up your air filter which is why I have fitted a catch can which vents the gasses and colects the oil, but you will need to block off the hole left in the filter housing
