1.1 bike carbs

i ended up popping to merlin Motorsports in castle combe race track.
they had a fuel regulator there, turns out when i let it pump into the carbs without a regulator i blew out the o rings around the fuel inlet pipe so iv had them off and im doing i quick fix with a tube of silicone :)

all this should be dry tomorrow so there going back on again… this time should be the last :D

the swirl pot is a good idea but there expensive and i think i can do without it. i will be keeping the idea in mind tho as im thinking about upgrading the engine one day.

with the upgrade ill be looking at power and reliability but still on bike carbs cos i love the concept lol.

any way ill give another update tomorrow night..

cheeers again!

booze and boredom, the greatest mix :)

go to your local motor factors and look at plastic fuel filters.  they make one with an inlet and return at the top and the outlet at the bottom.

cost about £3 lol

or buy the vw part (they call it a vapour separator, but it's basicly the same thing,)

you can see it in the pic, item fifteen.

Here's my 1.1 with the kit from Bogg Bros. Haven't connected the throttle & choke cables, and also need a relay for the fuel pump. It starts and runs quite easily, but the return to idle is a bit slow - might need some lubrication on the throttle cable.

How much were the manifolds?  I can prob make some in my spare time at work but I'm just curious?

may have to give them a tinkle and tell them what i'm planning.

that looks great! What about those running a servo and a vac advanced dizzy? just use no1 on no2 inlet ports? or all on the same port?

I'm not sure how much the actual intake manifold is, as I got the full package from Bogg Bros.

Thanks! I used the vacuum port for the vacuum advanced distributor, as I don't have a brake servo on my 1975 1.1,  it had front drum brakes originally. (now rotors but the front drums are stored)

I was going to make a custom fuel pump delete, but then I took a peek at my 1991 Eco Diesel, which uses the same block as the gas engines, and found out that the fuel pump delete was identical to the shape of the fuel pump on my 1.1. My friend had a N/A 1.6 diesel engine for parts, and I took the fuel pump delete from it - straight bolt-on item on my 1.1 , and it looks original!

Still need to find a suitable crash/tilt switch for the fuel pump, for safety reasons. Anyone have a suggestion?

Intake gasket on my 1.1 is identical to MK3 1.4 engine code ABD
