I know this is an unofficial thread, but can I ask does anyone yet know the dates for next year (2015) or if its even on - I heard that this year was the last year of the show is that correct? I cant believe it myself.

Well I live in Austria but that's not worth much.

I've not heard that but I'm not active on that scene, so I will monitor and let you know.
Can't believe that it was the last because that brings so much money to the region.

So  where did you hear or read that, can you send me a link because I will be there next year!

And I still can't believe it won't happen, official or not!  

It's on next year they announced it about 3 days after last one ended. We're booked up already as are loads of people we know

We all know that the most important AGM for this Club is just around the corner and we are all fully focused on that, which is fair enough but what then?

YES you've guessed it,  'The UNOFFICIAL Road Trip Wörthersee 2015'!  

So who's up for it?

This year was my first and it was just amazing, which is a real shame really because I've lived here for 20 years now, what a waste.  

But I for one am going again next year, so start getting your thinking caps on as it's not to early to start planning.

I've renamed this thread 2015 as I thought for all those looking at this for the first time can find a lot of info in the 2014 trip and get to see what they will miss!  Oh and get to see some unbelievable cars into the bargain.  

I will go 5 or 6 days before, same as this year.
We had a really good turn out from the UK this year, so lets see what we can manage to do next year.
I came across a MK1 Club from Germany in a car park near the top of a Mountain and there was 21 MK1's parked up.

We not going to let them win again, are we!

I found a video and it showed a guy who was trying to convince the council it should go ahead, basically like you said brings in the money. from that I understood that they were going to hold one more (2014). this information was obviously wrong for which I now am sorry.haha

I watched a video on the internet and it was a guy trying to convince the council it should go ahead in 2014, and I understood it that they would agree but this was the last time, I guess I was wriong, sorry to have worried everyone!

I am up for coming along with a mate, weather youll let us be part of your UK team or not is another matter, we wont know until several weeks before which type of VW Will be going. hopefully my mk1, but if its not finished by then it could be a mk4 golf or mk2 golf

Everyone is welcome to join in, more the merrier mate.
Around about September I'll start a list of people who show an interest in this.

Then as the winter roles on I build up a spreadsheet of all those who are committed to coming (same as this year).
Lots more detail in that, names, phone numbers, car reg and model, where people at staying etc…

Then in about March I start sharing the spreadsheet with all those who at attending!  

But do keep an I on this post because very useful information does get posted here about a range of subjects relating to the event, accommodation, places to visit etc…

Around December I'll post up a list of links ranging from places to stay and places to go!  

Watch this space.

I must admit the earlier the better.

I'll start looking around, although the Park Hotel is one of the best, we didn't get the best out of it because we were in the car most of the time. From after breakfast until mid to late evening.

Something more cost effective is the order of the day, me thinks!  

But I'm there next year!  

Can heartily recommend the Seehotel Vinzenz, didn't eat there but the location was spot on - easy to get to everything important but far enough from Velden that the thumping bass stayed out

Klagenfurt end of the lake was a bit dead, seemed not to be much there except endless suburbia. Reifnitz was mad but then that's only to be expected

Camp at the Faaker See if you want cheap and party-heavy, but the middle of the south side of the lake was just what I was after.

Will be going back when the Corrado's finished

brilliant ill look at these places - I have read a lot of people saying they get there well before the show starts and leaves well after. would I be ok if the show is wed to sat, booking the hotel tues to sunday? there for the whole show them, plus day either side , then also we can have the weekend either side to do a bit of travelling and sight seeing, museums etc?

It was busy the weekend before the show started - got the impression many folks left before the official event, as I did, since the majority who were down for the weekend picked that one.

See if you can get hold of a Kärntenkarte from your hotel, which gives free entry to local attractions - Bergruine Landskron (Landskron Castle), the waterfall at Fallbach and the Malta Alpenstrasse ending at Kolnbreinsperre Dam are all worth seeing and can be done in a day. The Pyramidenkögel was great too, if you have a head for heights
