Power steering is for wimps, just don't try and turn the wheels when stand still.

I expect you would lose all the feed back from what the front wheels are doing with this kit, I know if my steering goes lighter on a bend I'm pushing on to hard and the front wheels are losing grip.
There does not seem to be anything with this system that adjust the feel the faster you go? I could be wrong.

Each to their own really. The world would be a boring place if we were all the same :)

the EPS systems are equally as good on a road car or a race car,, the idea is to make very heavy steering more user freindly,, when our EASYSTEER  system if fitted you still feel all the road ,and the feel of the car,, ( as you should ) but the weight of the steering is reduce,, ( on full upto 1/5 of what it normally is ) iy you need 50lb of force to turn your wheel when static, no max you will need 10lb of force,, as for steering for wimps , it may not be every one solution,,, but why struggle with somthing pig heavy when it can easily be sorted,,,

Point taken, I used to own a Mk2 Golf GTi with power steering and found it had a different driving feel, the Mk1 steering is light enough when moving, perhaps because I don't live in a city and don't even try to move the steering wheel when stopped why I don't understand the need to have power steering.
I guess its because we are so used to new cars with light steering, light clutches and over servo brakes is why people complian about these things on a car designed in the 1970's. I drive mine everyday so are used to these things, its just new cars I have to becareful of thing like the brakes (not throwing my self through the windscreen when stopping!) and light steering......

Just my thought of the day...

Does your system rely on "faking" the engine rpm and road speed signals ?

I am OK with faking the engine rpm one but the road speed one causes a strange effect with these systems - ie if they are turned up too high then the self centering of the rack does not work properly and too low it defeats the object of having them. If you forget that it is turned up from parking then the next island you come to can make for a brown trouser moment !

I fitted one to the wifes sportline and found a guy that had worked out a box of tricks to be able to control the unit using a proper road speed signal (RJES). He does not seem to sell them anymore - You dial in your wheel size and when you want the assistance to reduce and increase automatically - works a treat and finishes this setup off to a factory level feel.

Cheers,
Ade
