Caddy rear disc conversion

Post

Hi all and I guess I'm going over old ground.

I so far have a pair of mk4 rear calipers with original hangers
A new pair of mk2 stub axles and a new pair of mk2 caliper hangers

I really want to do the conversion all in a day so want to get it right first time.

So what and brake cable do I need ?
And what brake pipes do I need if I get new mk4 pipes will they fit straight to the caddy?

Looking on ebay the other day, I saw the caddy forum/shop were advertising small attachments that allowed original cables to be used, do not have a link and wasn't looking too closely so could have misunderstood.

Yea you have just reminded me. I have seen these wasn't sure if they work on mk4 calipers as mk2 calipers seems to be the more popular route. Ill drop them an e mail thanx

mk4 are the same fitment to mk2 post-87, so they should work. the only thing is the mk4 calipers use banjo flexi hoses, but the std conversion hoses you buy should work fine on your caddy once the steel lines have been modified to suit

the stub axles dont bolt to the caddy axle as golfs have 4 bolts uk caddys have 6. you will need to get the holes in the caddy axle welded and new holes drilled and tapped to accept the mk2 stub axles.

not gonna happen in 1 day im afraid

also the handbrake cables just need a spacer that you can easily make
