Just had a GTI in same colour as mine park right next to me outside the house…had to double-take…needless to say I left an owner's club note on it, maybe we'll start our own seafront cruise! There's precious few Mk1's here

Everyone wants in on the action when it gets to the summer and it's fair enough too if you're not an everyday user or have a concours car tucked away in le garage, but I'm sure that there are loads of us who drive and love these cars everyday. We need to stick together in the winter and help each other out. It's far too easy to sit at the computer and 'take part' but arn't we all forgetting that this is primarily a car club not a social club and getting together is a major part of that???

As for location i'm willing to travel but am over Stockport/Manchester way for votes

Southport is a bit far away, hokw about somewhere manchester way?

The meet is usually just off the M6 at Parbold (see Regions, North West for exact details). Folk do come from Stockport but if there are more people in manchester than anywhere else, another location could be considered.

Ok we'll put you down as a 'maybe'. Any other 'maybes' or is everyone in Dano's previous list a definite? I'm a 'maybe' too, due to distance.

Well I'm going whatever, if numbers are low I might cry tho so please can all the 'maybes' bear that in mind when making the final decision. It makes me sick that other regions are getting together and we're not. Not sick enough to do any of the organising myself but pretty sick all the same.

We were one of the first, if not THE first region to get organised "Back in the Day". With Christmas, New Year and winter things just went a bit flat…. but now we're back!!!

I went down the SWM meet in October and invited some of them up, maybe they'll take the offer up.

These days with the traffic and the roadworks, around 1? hours.

Sorry for joining this one late guys…. But surely if people are travelling for one and a half hours, shouldn't we think about splitting the NW meet into two? For poor turn outs we could go for a drive and bring the two groups together, for better summer turn outs we could split it? Maybe Paulc, you could run one half and maybe Dano the other? This might allow for a better turnout to both due to not being put off by the distance? What do you guys think?

Yep makes sense that… Parbold can keep NWM and Paul's Cheshire and North Wales and elsewhere (?) could be CNWM!!!

I don't think there's enough people in Cheshire/Manchester area to sustain a meeting. Looking at the list above, there's 4. I thought there were more, which is the reason I wanted to find out where people were from, etc. Maybe there are more people but its just that they haven't found this thread or don't want to get involved in monthly meets, or haven't spoken up yet. If a big enough group of people are in each area, then sure we could split, but as it stands, there's not enough to justify it.

The travel's just a bit of an issue due to the M56 roadworks at the moment, plus the poor weather is hardly enjoyable to drive through on a busy motorway. Maybe we should just hold off until spring time, or if a meeting does go ahead, have something planned to do which makes it more of a 'pull' than simply the cars in a car park - I'm thinking of some kind of theme day like go-karting or something?
