Calling Essex Folk

Just testing the water so to speak.  Been chatting to another couple of local members and we like the idea of a Local meet.  maybe we could combine with suffolk aswell?  mr gti your thoughts.
As for location i was thinking of somewhere like Braintree Freeport?  Fairly central, ample parking also good facilities like cinema, bowling retaurants etc.

Perhaps other members would like to add their input on a possible meet/venue?

I'm from kent, but I would possibly travel to a meet in Essex if it was in the south of the county, as it's not that far to travel from where I'm located, and as of yet a Kent meet has not materialised.

Could combine with Kent?     The tunnel is less than an hour away from anywhere in essex

Like i say just fishing for peoples thoughts.

I can go for weeks if not months without seeing another mk1, and it would be nice to meet up with others to chat.

What town are you in?  I'm out in the sticks near Halstead

I'm in the sticks too, between Dunmow and Braintree.

We came through Halstead on Friday. We went for a cruise out to Lavenham. Luvvly day. Drove back in the evening sunshine.  

My step-daughter, Rach GTI will join us. She's Cambridge, but is often here anyway.

Nice one about 20 minutes for me. ESSEX needs a meet.

Sounds good to me altho I have no idea about getting around Braintree…I'm at the Barking end of Essex and brought up in Brentwood.

I go out and about in my mk1 and never see anyone else..would love to be spotted in the 'spotted' section one day *sigh*  8O

Get yourself onto the M11 and pick up the A120 at J8 Stansted Airport is one way.

A12 to Witham and follow signs to Braintree gets you there too

I'll jump on that bandwagon as well if a few of us are going across.  

It seems like we've got a few takers here with a few more folk I know from the area who haven't been about this weekend to chip in.  
I would say we have enough interest for a meet.
Is everyone happy with the location?  I only suggested it as it is an area i know well.  any other ideas?
To give others from the Kent area an idea of travelling times if their not sure - From braintree i can get to lakeside in 35 min(new A120 link from the M11 is great), and I have family in the Edenbridge area with takes about 50 min to an hour on a reasonable run.
As for date there's two bank holiday weekends in may or a sunday/saturday????  your thoughts.

Hi as for meeting dates i.e Saturday/Sunday it will hit or miss for me due to work and bank hoildays well forget that as I'm always working these as my days off never happen on bank holiday I must be unlucky.

Ps What's Christmas I've worked the last five years on this day, my family think i don't want to be with them. :roll:

Saturdays suit me better than sundays, but sundays can be arranged with enough notice. Bank holidays aren't a problem for me.
