Now
as many of you know, i'm a little bit strange, but i suppose we all have to be to own mk1!
well part of my strangeness is a lack of trust i have for others, where this stems from i shall never know
so resolve this i tend to do things myself
let me give you a brief history!!!
needed a roll over jigs so thought s*d it i'll make one, should be fun!!!
then…
i needed a set of wheel blasting and painting
painting is easy, blasting was a problem, but i thought can't be that hard, so it i'll make one.. should be fun!!!
i had to part with this when i moved jobs then later down the line i thought i need to test my diesel injectors, what i needed was a pop tester………. can't be that hard…. s*d it ill make one, should be fun!!!
sorted!!!!
somebody challenge me to make a bed in the shape of a mk1……can't be that hard…. s*d it ill make one, should be fun!!!
somebody once said to me, "wouldn't it be good if you could still get metal P slot centre, so i can finish off the polished look" some twigged in my head, can't be that hard…. s*d it ill make some, should be fun!!!
then out of boredom over xmas i stumbled across dioramas for model cars, s*d it ill make one, should be fun!!!
so that has dragged it up to this weekend
the next silly idea……….!!!!!!!
i have loads of part i want to tart up but with the old blasting cabinet gone a new smaller version needs to be made…..!
so with a sleepless night of idea spinning through my head, today the project began
to make any good cabinet it needs to be a complete unit to start, like a oil drum or a old metal water tank… but with none of tho's around it got me thinking…… i have a bit of a addiction to "Really useful boxes" (other boxes are avaible)
so a 84L box was purchases for the huge fee of £16 english pound
ive been talking to my dad about this today at work and when i walked back in with that he said "your never going to make a blasting cabinet out of that are you son…..HAHA!!!!"
"well dad as a matter of fact i am"
watch this space, this is going to be the most crazy project yet!

It was meant as one matey. Even if I was any good at that sort of thing I wouldn't have the time. Am learning though with my project MK1 (with a lot of help)

so tonight,
i've gaffa taped some clear asitate to the inside and outside of the lide, this is to help maintian the clearish finish as blasting will frost the perspexs very fast
then i got some p shap draft excluder to try to create a seal around the join between box and lid
also added the left over ribbon LED from the diorama around the lid
all lite up, should help me see in there
also alot of parts turned up today but i shall update once they start being fitted

You've Inspired me. I'm going to make the move from cardboard!
I know what you mean by not trusting people. That's why I ended up in the motor trade, after someone ripped me off when I was 15, telling me my Morris Minor engine needed a rebuild. I was too young to know any better. soon learnt.
Could you knock out one of these in MDF?:

MDF should be easy enough but a bit expensive and will be very heavy

90% complete tonight
5" hand hole cut out then a a fitting bolted in and rubber gloves attached
4" inline fan bolted on the side, this shifts alot of air which is a good things
a grill and ductin from the box to the fan
made this at work, it's a fitting to take compressed air and the media, should hopefully take both into the box without and leaks
all fitted up to the box
fun installed, i need to find some nice flexable pipe as this stuff is very stiff making it difficult to use
as it stands tonight
thats it for now, i tried it out and everything is working as it should just need some media and some nice flexable pipe work
other than that
