Pic of the Donor I'm picking up on Saturday.

Never owned a MK2 Golf before in 20 years of driving VW's - now within a week I have two!

I owned a black mk2 syncro about 15 years ago so the mk1's could be stored in the winter. It was so much fun especially when the snow came down. You could feel the extra weight in the rear but it was one of the most solid feeling cars to drive I've had. I enjoyed it so much that I bought a Audi Quattro after and that lasted me for a good few winters.Since then I have always owned a small 4x4. Would have another syncro tomorrow but they are just getting harder to find, there seems to be more Golf Country's about but don't fancy another lhd. Looks like you'll have plenty of spares from your donor to keep the syncro going for a long time.

It'll be a proper snow sleeper:ninja:- if we get any!:dry:I've been smoking around in it for a week and most people I see who I know ask what the hell am I doing with that old thing. When I tell them its four wheel drive they suddenly shut up and get interested! The tiny little "Syncro" badges make it very unassuming.

The car needs an exhaust and they're different to a std mk2. I've managed to trace middle and rear boxes but think I might have to fab a new down pipe from the donors one.

Can't believe you've gone over to the dark side Graham!

I had a brand new MK2 GTI in 1985, great car and always regret the day i sold it. It was a very hard choice between a MK1 or a MK2 this time around but the MK1 won.

Afraid so Mitch but it does save spoiling a MK1!
