MK 1 1.6 Diesel Engine

Post

Hi all, hope you can help me out here.

I'm part of the Churnet Valley Railway and I am currently restoring a 1.6 Diesel engine which has been fitted to a track inspection railcar. The block has been re-bored, crank ground. The engine wasn't stripped down by me, the previous owners idea of a rebuild was to just throw it all into one box and not label anything up. So im looking for any form of parts list.

Sounds like an interesting project Paul. :)

I've got a 1.6D sat in my garage that I removed from my camper. If you need any spares I might be able to help.

Here's a link to the Partsbase site mentioned above:

Thanks very much for your offer, at the moment the only part that we are missing is a useable injector pump. But the railway thinks it may have a spare in another rail car which the are scrapping. If not could we come back to you as we may struggle getting it running without

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Here's some photos of the start of the rebuild. Because the engine had been in storage for 12 months any sense of order had been lost. So much for 'having a quick look at the engine' which was the brief before it was delivered. Because this is an industrial engine it has a few odd fitments like no top dead centre marks so you have to work it out, extra fuel filters and the flywheel has no clutch it has a fibre coupling to the rail gears transmission.
