Project Corona
Thanks, still not perfect but I'll keep on trying with it. I got new Brembo discs and pads yesterday, so may start stripping the brakes down and cleaning up today.

Few bits chucked back on the gearbox. Wrong way round and upside down but you get the idea!

New steering rack arrived today. I haven't had a second to do anything on the car for the last two days. Very annoying. Ordered a few more bits online and the steering rack came today. I'm ordering a roll over jig this week as well. My wife also ordered a swimming pool so my work space is going to be reduced somewhat! I'll be back I the case with replacing bits tomorrow.

Great work so far. The gearbox now looks superb. Nice reg plate too!

Thanks very much! That means a lot! Trying to do one bit a day and then document it as well so I've got a decent record of what I've done, just for my own record really.
Got about ten mins done tonight, bloody cold though so just shot blasted two bits of gear linkage and painted them up quickly.

Managed to get ten mins in to shot blast a bit more of the gear linkage and give it a quick paint. I'm putting everything back on the old rack so I don't forget where it all goes!

Exhaust manifold showed up this morning. Looks really well made so I'm happy!

Where did you get the manifold?

It was on eBay! Never too sure about eBay and car parts but it looks great. Welds are really neat and I'm happy with it

Just had a read through the thread so far, looking good.
The plating seems to be working well now and the gear box with the mounts on looks great
"Wife ordered and swimming pool so my work space is going to be limited" Erm, interesting. I thought swimming pools were holes in the ground!
Has she ordered something from the Acme catalogue?
Keep up the good work

Haha, she got one of those above ground ones! We are locked down for the long term so she's decided the kids would appreciate a Lido! Guess I can't complain as she lets me do the car when I'm not needed for home schooling!

Got the pedal box today! Can't wait to fit it! Feels like a while off though!

Started to bare metal the engine bay today. I didn't put any earphones on this time, big mistake can still hear the ringing in my ears, my makita grinder broke so I had to use my Titan one, quite the difference! So much louder!

I cut the Battery tray out today, it wasn't much fun! Think there must be a skill to it which I don't have. I'm doing the rain tray tomorrow, has anyone got any pointers as it took me about an hour to get the battery tray out! The roll over jig I bough arrived today as well! Looking forward to getting it on that and sorted out ready to strip the under seal and do some welding underneath.

For the rain tray try grinding off the paint, finding the spot welds and drilling them out. They're on the front face where it meets the firewall btw
Might be easier that just chopping and grinding? Plus you can keep it in case you decide to go back to stock one day

Amazing! Thank you. I'm going to get on the case tonight now. I don't think I'll go back to standard, but you never know!

Started on the rain try and then had second thoughts so I've left that job for the moment just whilst I consider it. My car is only ever going to be used on hot days and pretty rarely at that so don't need a heater in it but I just don't want it to be too boy racer as well! I'll have a think.
In the meantime I built the roll over jig. Thanks Simon. Still have a few bits to take off the car before it goes on but it's getting fairly close now to the underside being stripped and sorted which is a job I've wanted to do for a decade so I'm quite excited.

Well that was the least enjoyable 3 hours I've had on the car. Rusted threads, sheered bolts, rusty sills! You name it, it went badly wrong today. Made me question why I'm doing it all! I did get the doors off with no problems though, so small mercy's and all that.
Hey ho here's some pics.
