Mk1 daz yeah your right, a customer literally only came in last week and showed me. I'm not going to lie I am gutted that somebody has already bet me to it but from what I've seen he is a very talented bloke.
He is in the same town aswell, about 3 mile away so I can't even say I've got the only 4 wheel drive mk1 golf in town.

Yeah I had a look at his page last night, if you look through his photos you can see he's actually widened the shell to fit the audi, fair play to him cos he's fit a piece all the way down so I think the big arches are simply to house some mega wide wheels.Backinblack said
I just looked at the image of the other one which if the right one is a martini rally look with really wide wheels. Not sure on your plan but if it could look more standard to the casual eye but have the power and handling of something special then that would be awesome. I love the ‘nothing to see here’ cars that are actually very good and very fast motors. I am guessing the floor pan is much wider so to do it would take some extra special fabrication of the rear quarters or somehow tuck and inboard the wheels.

I agree you cant beat and old school sleeper.
I will be keeping mine as standard as I can, the 6.5j wheels it's on have a little bit of poke and I imagine I will settle for some 7.5 wheels in the end so I think I should be able to do something that looks standard, ish.
I've also gone against fitting the TT dash, going to try find a good condition standard dash.

Will hopefully be positioning and welding into place next week as I'm still not happy with the angle its at, it's not that easy to marginally move a chassis and I only intend to have to do this once so needs to be perfect

I got the shell positioned and started racking some panels in to hold it steady but disaster! Somehow I had the shell out slightly so I had to un pick the shell and adjust it slightly
With the shell now straight I could crack on making some panels up
Now unfortunately the spot welder has packed in atm so I’m waiting to get that back up and running so in mean time everything has just been tacked quickly.

I’m curios to see how the body finally looks married to that floor.

Been busy buying a house so forgot all about this till you commented.
I’ll get it off ramp and take a full picture of it.
It has a 205 GTI living underneath it at the minute so will have a shift about.
I’ve been chipping away at it in the background when I’ve had chance, I’ve been building the scuttle tray to join between Audi and golf. The TT wiring loom goes through either side here so I’ve had to make it wide enough for that. Just need to run spot welder down it an then can build the dash support on top.
I’ve experimented making the offside rear wheel tub, found it difficult with it having a bulge for the filler neck so that’s a work in progress, might chop it back out.
Other than that just been doing a lot of mocking up, testing things seeing how I’m going to go about other parts
