The rebirth of Spawn 1.8 clipper

Post

Ok thought I might aswell start my own little rebuild rolling restoration thread on my Mk1 Clipper 1.8  8v now named Spawn:lol:As a few of you know already she came with one of those rather loud cherry bomb things which was probably added to hide her blowing manifold.
She now has a full new exhaust system including replacement original manifold, replaced inlet manifold due to broken heater thingy inside then cleaned everything as I went whilst I sit waiting for the new nuts and bolts I should have ordered earlier to arrive! :ocf_emoticons__BangHead:Once they arrive I can begin putting her back together!
The head was skimmed whilst off just to make sure and whilst half the engine is out I decided to follow the useful guide on here to replace all gearbox bushes.
She came lowered 40mm so I bought a good set of standard springs of which I have done one so far! (Waiting to get the front end on the ground so I can move it over in my garage:$ Its not the size its what you do in it!)
I will add to my thread as the resto progresses as I plan to enjoy this summer and the rest of the mot before stripping to shell for respray!  C:\fakepath\photo.jpeg

The reason for the proper respray is evident in numerous places where the individual responsible for the job done used black spray from a rattle can to do engine bay and boot! C:\fakepath\photo-3.jpeg
Here is a perfect example of me being at my thickest..
Thought my new wheels might just fit until I went to set off and the suspension settled and car wouldnt move!
And finally so far.. bought some new lights for the back but not sure about them! Think im going to get the m3 clear over red instead once money is available as she will be getting a new red roof after respray and red carpet.. Im just waffling now and change my mind like the wind but one thing always remains I love my Mk1:lol:

Is that you Dad?
Sure sounds like my father lmao keep it standard son keep it standard!
The problem im faced with is the bland grey seats (I had the exact same in my mk2 gti before Spawn) And that was gunmetal in colour so they looked good, As I will be keeping the car white im wanting red contrasting interior.
What perhaps my father and yourself fail to understand is original is exspensive these days!
And after all my hard work I want red carpet treatment and fine leather for my posterior!
I am keeping as much of it as standard as possible but with subtle personalisation! No one else has to like it its my coffin as I will never part with it not even in death!

See! And the only thing wrong with that picture is the stereo!
I have purchased myself a Pioneer pull out stereo!
Its amazing how much we take for granted these days I thought to myself as I sat excited dusting off my stereo cassette deck for the house I had retrieved out the loft
My 7 year old was mesmerised until he realised you couldnt skip tracks like a cd
But never the less I did feel young againg making a mix tape lmao.

She looks tidy mate.

I liked the clear rear lights by the way! If you wanna sell them on (cheap!) let me know.

Maybe it's just me, but do what you want to your car. After all it's yours. There's still plenty of standard cabbies out there and by the look of it yours isn't standard in any way, so as it's already been changed from standard keep changing stuff and do it your way.

Just my two pence worth. (Expects to be shot down in flames as usual!   )

Back to the car though….I'm loving the clean look of the car and especially the wheels, they seem to set it off a treat. Mind if I ask what are they and what size?
