original bumper were alittle tired and need work….so i sent them off to my mate who used to build knight repo body armour…so there could be straight (rear damage). They were then  picked up and dropped of at the polishers…….for acid dipping, then polishing and then triple chrome plating.




note the damage







brand new bumper caps….


door handles went though the same process, but i didnt get any pics.

gearbox, stripped, degreased, wet flatted, etched, the top coat and refit…

























lever and end cap (whats left of it)  



new lever cap


new lever spring (old one snapped) - new one stripped and galvanised



flanges (striped and galvanised)

When I see work like that I always look at mine and think I'm only doing a tenth of a job!!

Out of interest, do you work in a body-shop to do all this good stuff, or are you having to job it out?

thank you. No I don't work in a body-shop nor am I a mechanic. My brother got me in to golfs when I was young and since then I've messed around with them. I brought my first golf when I was about 17/18year old it was a sliver gti which i restored with him.

90% of the work I've carried myself. The other 10% is things like power-coating, acid stripping and chroming & painting is sent out to other company's.  

HERES A FACT:
Between me, my brother and our friend Nav, we have 16 mark 1 golfs, heres a few of them…  8)

Swallowtail_uk - again glad you like my westy , your swallowtails coming along real nice... i would of loved a swallowtail but as you could see my plans for my golf invloved modifications... and i dont think i could have done that to a swallowtail... also love the attention to detail mate, can wait to see more pics!
