Sunroof Cables for MK1 Golf GTI - Wanted

Bodywork restoration of my MK1 Golf GTI in Lhasa Green is now (finally) underway.
Unfortunately, the sunroof cables (left and right) have seen the plastic ends both break apart upon removal of cable.
I believe that the part numbers are 171-877-305A (left) and 171-877-306A (right).
I found them supposedly available in America via "MK1Autohaus", but I firmly believe that the company is no longer operating although their online shop is! (Beware!!!)
Does anyone know where I can source both cables?
Happy to buy second hand but obviously they need to be in excellent condition.
Many thanks in advance for any help on this.

You should ask classic parts de vw’s classic parts dept, trouble is no one contacts them so they assume no demand.

I had similar problem, I took a risk and bought a beetle 73-75 sunroof cable on eBay perfect fit. Have a look on vw heritage for beetle sunroof cables.

Many thanks for your replies. Much appreciated. Found new cables via eBay (Australia) with brass ends, not plastic. Very expensive but they should last for a long time. Paul at JPL Tecnologies can make them up for you.

Sorry to revive this old thread, but how would I find paul at JPL technologies? I can only find a place that does food technology (I'm assuming you're in the UK?). Both of my roller adjuster things have broken off my cables and the sunroof drops at the back and leaks quite a bit, though I'm more concerned about it rotting out. From what I can see the only options are super beetle cables which are apparently right but a tad too long and £109 a side from heritage, or £300 for a second hand sunroof unit which may or may not be much better than what I have now.
