Exciting times seeing it all come together innit?

Can't beat hours and hours of polishing and claening and making things shiny.

Looking great so far!

Ian

Thanks Ian!!

I know, currently sat cleaning my wheels ready for a coat of c5 ceramic.

Show time Sunday so needs to be clean.

Seen as the windscreen money pit sticker was coming off I had some more made.

IMG_5286.JPG

All wheels have now been coated with c5, tyres fitted and balanced.

I've noticed the wheels have different ofsets et37 and et25 plus I've got 5mm spacers coming with longer bolts so hopefully I can get them sitting right.

Also come today

New trim clips
C4 for all plastics
Black indicator lenses for the front
New chemical guys drying towel

Just waiting on bolts for wheels to come

Just a few little updates.

Since fitting the wheel I've got a horrible noise on right full lock, traced to inner wheel hitting inner wheel arch so panic over that's an easy fix.

Had some issues with wheel hop on boost so been adjusting damper settings to cure the issue and setting tyre pressure.

I got a good setup then I started blowing boost hoses off the turbo now as I could hold full throttle longer.

So next job is lipping the adaptor tubing is next job.

My new boost pipe turned up at weekend which doesn't anway with a short 51mm pipe and two clips.

So it's straight off the turbo now up and onto a 61mm pipe.

I didn't have anytime to test it at full boost though ;-(

My new boost pipes have turned up so less connections and straight off the turbo to 60mm tube without adaptors.

I had chance  to nip out in it today wow it's mental!!

It's the first time it's all come together and worked right, suspension brakes and engine all bang on!!

I really really need to get a limited slip diff fitted next as even with the semi slick tyres its tramlining all over, on and off boost it torque steers all over the road.

There's still a few tweaks and improvements i want to make later on but mega happy right now.

I took the car out last night for a quick run to a yearly classic car show last night.

Car run perfect, a little bit of catching on the arches but nothing really.

Kids didn't enjoy it, too hard, too noisy blah blah

I thought I'd put an update on here it's been a while.

Had a few outings to a local meet and the guys got plenty of attention.

Today I took it to a local car show and it won best paint in the show. IMG_5731.JPG IMG_5732.JPG IMG_5733.JPG

The golfs been out to local meet a few times since my last update and been well.

Apart from putting it away the fan fuse blew so that's a little job I hope.

Priced up a lsd for the gearbox so hopefully I'll get round to that over the winter.

Taxes for another month then the covers going on.

Not much happening with the money pit now it's all working so I'm at bit bored of it now.

I've been keeping myself buying building t5 campers.

I've now to decide if I want to pull the engine out of the mk1 and fit a lsd over winter.

Thanks.

Got two more t5 build on the go, one for me and the others a camper build.

The golfs under its cover now for winter and considering selling it on for a b5 rs4 maybe but not sure it's a good move.

Nice build! I got told to go check this thread for some wheel geometry data, I can  see you struggled a bit with that?

What figures did you end up with adjusting front and rear to ? And do you have a pictures how you adjusted rear wheels?

BTW I'm buliding a R32 5door golf mk1, I like the new tech in old car.

Really love you mk 6 seats. Wonder how that would be in a 5 door  O_o

Sorry I don't the data to hand I left it to the technicians, the main issue was the rear wheels weren't track straight and there is no adjustment for that. The rears were stripped and bushed with plastic discs so they ran straight.

The whole car was setup with the strip method on little platforms.

Transformed the car so much I wouldn't mine me other cars doing.
