Post

Thanks Rich, i've always had a soft spot for the G40 it's so small and basic and still great fun for a 1272cc haha

The exhaust was fitted tona mates car some years ago, he used it now and then and totted up about 2k miles :)

Well today i got this from gemany for my CO pot

Also ordered a fmic that i hope will work in the front end, supposed to be 48hr delivery but we'll see

Waiting for my seats too, quite keen to actually sit in the car for the first time haha

thanks chaps, it's money thats the killer. i seriously underestimated the amount of parts i needed when i bought this car.

i just got a bit excited at the prospect of owning a rust free series 1 i dived in. to be honest i'd probably do it again

i just can't wait 'til i can start fabricating custom bits, thats what i really enjoy - the bolting parts in is not so much fun but i suppose it's all good in the end when you have a 'finished' product you can be proud of

regards to the engine work / conversion i'm going to have to buy all the materials and parts and build it all up and get it running - then strip it all out and clean it up / paint / polish it, then put it all back in again  O_o

all good fun i guess, just eager to get it to a stage it actually looks like a car and not a few parts thrown in a shell

Thanks bud, i'm really looking forward to some custom work.

Extending the loom is really long and boring job and sourcing loom with the same thickness and colours is hard work too.

Off to the scrap yard in the morning, see what parts i can get off other vws :)

Well made my way to the scrap yard this morning and got some goodies

Set about fitting them

Cam cover

Plug lead guide - modified bracket

Fitted

Then on to the boost pipe

Fmic perched

Now onto the new gearbox mount

Cut off the old part and ground it down

Started shaping the 3mm mild steel

Holesawed out the section for the mount

Repeated and trial fitted

Tack welded

And sat in place

That'll do til tomorrow where i can finish off the mount and put some proper welds on it
