okay getting there i think!

plan is cut and weld the polo mount into the golf in the correct place!

im getting one from a scrap polo next week so can have a line up

seems easier than fannying around with mounts, after that shes going to to paint shop then put together and tunnneee time!

took the loom rest of the looms out of the g40 today! soooo many wires :O

plan to do a full wire tuck so will spend a long time getting the wires in the golf.

not 100% what to do with arches, weather to bolt them on and then remove for separate painting at the shop or to bolt them on and leave them on then replace the rivets in them?

also got a few new parts, snap off boss and momo steering wheel, plan to change the wheel though!

boot hinges and lach/lock mechanism,

heres some pictures of the engine lining up in the golf just having a play!

Coming along now mate. Engine test fit is a good milestone.

Post

yeah well i still need a small block gear box mount and rear (unless its the same as the gti)

then what i will do is attach gearbox mounts and it will give a good idea of where the polo mount needs to be welded

after will prop engine up and get driveshafts in to see where they fit, have a fiddle and then should be good to weld then quick paint and off to the shop!

cant wait to see her in all one colour!

cant decide if i should keep it original and go mars red or go something different like audi r8 red or similar? - decisions!

OHHH AND I NEARLY FORGOT! 4x new shiney things coming from Germany :D

Colour choice is a personal thing mate. Go with what you think will look best. narrow it down a bit to say 3 or 4and then post some pics up here and I am sure folk will post their thoughts on it :)

UPDATES!

got a chassis leg from a polo coming this week,

also got all small block engine mounts:

so all i need now is a welder and some time to allign the engine up 100% then when all is done, finish the bay smoothing and it will soon be in the body shop, hopefully in january some time!

all exciting stuff!

soon as its out of the shop im pretty sure i have nearly all the parts to get it on the road, but time will tell, probably missing a few things, but optimistic :D

also these came:

very happy with the quality!

also still getting the new wheels however take 10-12 weeks delivery from germany :( sad times however will make the car 10000000% sexier, trust me ;)

also purchased a chroming kit online, saves sending bits to get chromed at major £££

heres the results:

selection of random things, think it works best on smaller items and un-flat but this was first attempt :)

shiiienneeeeyy!

so thats where im at! still tinkering with bits and bobs, mainly getting performance parts for the engine which i will do in another update sooooon!

thanks all

Keep it real!

yes it is Jamiegolf! thanks for the help and parts!

driveshafts are also on the way now so we can have alignment soon! plan is to get the gearbox mounts (lower and front) and get them bolted in the bay, then look at fabbing the top gear box mount then the big daddy, the driverside mount chopping and welding! :O scared

plan is to take it slow and take time with lots of tea

getting excited about it now as its slowly coming all together, cant wait for paint, need to restrain myself spending too much over christmas to get the paint done asap!

in the wheel department the 3 piece split front and rear dishes have been produced and they loooook stunning! want to wait till there here (probably end of jan) before posting pics really, just to tease the sizes are:

14x 9j et -10

14x10.5 et-1

dishy to say the least ;)

engine updates sooooooon!

KEEP IT REAL

Nice thread subscribed . Have u decided how you will mount the arches ?

Post

yes, the fiberglass arches are a little poey and don't fit 100% so will try have a play with them if not ui will be getting plastic arches!

I plan on getting a small rubber edge which will clip on top of the lip and then against the body to stop it chaffing and to create a tight fit! as seen here:

I really want the 'bolt on' look with the arches!

I have also got a few quotes for the body work and have chosen who im going with now! full respray is booked for soon after Christmas :D

everything is coming together nicely now with regards to the engine!

CANT wait to hear that engine in the golf, that supercharger whine!!!

KEPP IT REAL!
