Got a bit done on the Sunday, found some filler between the flash red and the paprika red, I had a feeling it would be that way, ah well!

The synstryp isn't penetrating as well as I hoped, but it's coming off. The spit makes life so much easier. I'll keep chipping away at it, literally. Hopefully metal in the next month, he says!

I hate paint, especially when there's 2 layers and filler, made some decent progress this weekend though! I wouldn't say it's half bad for a novice, don't think I'd ever held a spray can before haha

More photos!

So an update, it's been a crazy couple of years.. I've moved house. Been in and out a relationship, had a shit job and now have a great one, been chairman of the club for 3 years.

Bought a T25 and blew up the engine, so did a swap!

Bought another MK1, which someone drove into the back of, got a German shepherd, he's bloody hard work!

Basically, life got on the way and if you remember, I found a lot of rot!

Good news is, life seems a little less hectic and due to the pandemic my mate who welds was out of work so I decided to throw him some cash and it's been welded up!

Had a few bits to do on the van and the other MK1, but they seems ok (for now) so hopefully, gonna get the MK1 back on the ground, and test fit the engine!

Hopefully make some progress soon! (and spend a load of money)

It has been a bit of a long one ain't it?

Didn't it go into the garage for new wiper blades in the beginning?

Still at least it's not got any worse.

Nice to see it getting soliderer.

Only a few more years and it should be good to go

Well I started to go through your build thread and then bingo jumps from few years ago to 2020. At least there is 2020 update and you have not stopped completely!!

I know the feeling I have project going on since 1998, but I do bit here and there, so keep going Simon it will be amazing once all done and you can say you built it yourself (with help from others!) and then enjoy it.

From another Simon.

 Cheers other Simon!

It's hard to get motivated, but looking through other build threads is giving me the push.

Back down here today,  trying to get the paint off. There's two layers so it's a graft but getting there!

Little update, gonna spend a couple more hours down here and hopefully get the drivers side rear quarter in primer, that's the two big panels done then!

Managed to get all the paint off and into primer, both sides done now, unearthed a "wobbly" bit on the quarter, gonna try and pull the dents but it'll need some filler at some point

Engine bay tomorrow… wish me luck

Decided to give the engine bay a miss and started on the underseal, de-icer and a wood chisel and it's coming slowly but surely

Slowly getting there, back to work for the week so I'll crack on again next weekend, bought loads of zinc primer and underseal ready and treated the bits of rust I found as I went  9D9BA029-9C38-4317-9439-474E69C1D6DA.jpeg BBB39F85-3FAD-4890-AF5A-7B2F5678CB49.jpeg

Getting there.

You could cover some of it in dog food and see if Otto can chew his way through it quicker. I'm pretty sure the previous owner of mine owned a beaver and used it to cut the holes in the floor for the badly mounted seats.

It can be the only explanation

Haha it's probably be quicker!

Yeah I've found some holes in the boot floor, they look like self tappers, probably for 90s aftermarket stereo equipment - easy enough to weld up and smooth 🤞
