Thanks guys.

@cranky The Rallye project seems a long time ago now! I've just read the thread again now you mentioned it! it's easy to forget just how much went into it. It's great that we can blog this stuff on forums like this otherwise it would be forgotten.  The Rallye will be on show at our AGM this year if your making the trip over again?

The rallye thread!……. http://vwgolfmk1.org.uk/forum/index.php?page=topicview&id=projects%2Fyour-other-cars-and_2%2Frallye

A great purchase, always difficult to decide how far to go with polishing the paint and how often to drive it.

I have had the same predicament as I have a mk1 scirocco with 13k on it !

Look forward to seeing it in the flesh sometime.

I was flicking through some AGM15 pics this morning looking for suitable candidates for the AGM16 flyer and thought I recognise that! 2D7A0526.jpg

And before anyone asks no that's not me  , that's the original owner I bought it off with his wife. He came on the Saturday when everyone was on the drive out.

OMG Graham, look at the sticker in the back window, our medical friends have had their hands on it!

Yes I was aware they had gotten their grubby mits on it.

He lived close to them and was convenient for him. The owner was present every time they worked on it which was probably bit of a nightmare for them. There's nothing worse than having your customer constantly peering over your shoulder.
For what they charged for what they did to the car I'm not sure it was the right place to take it. I think they were trying to make up unnecessary work such as it had an aftermwrket coil on it but I've put the original back on and its fine.

What amazing car and such an amazing find! I agree it's almost too good to drive on the public roads and it would also be a shame to polish out the original finish! It also seems a shame to keep such an amazing car off the road but you'd never find another if something happened to it! At least it can provide all the other Golf owners with information and images of what the cars were like when new.
I look forward to seeing it in the flesh sometime.
