Thanks, will probably rotate the wheels depending on the time of year. Will 256 discs fit under a 13 inch wheel?

That looks lovely, I think I want to paint my white when thI time comes. You'll need 14s to go over your 256s I'm sure.

Update on plans to upgrade brakes to 256mm mk2 16v spec. Trial fitted the discs, carriers and calipers tonight to make sure everything fitted - thankfully they all did!

My 256 black diamond disc’s, Griling 54’s, Pagid and carriers have been sitting in a box for ages,must get them out and fitted as it looks straight forward after seeing yours. Very nice by the way.

my bits would be better on the car !!!!

Nice simple update; Had ideas similar to the mk2 re: stereos and have now decided to go in a completely opposite direction!

Was influenced by the fact that the mk1 did not come with a radio from new and that this is in keeping with the era of the car.

To cut a long story short, I have blanked off the radio aperture with a genuine VW blanking plate I managed to find.

I was watching the cars the star.on you tube,the golf gti story part 2,towards the end of the feature is mark's car.
It would be great toknow how it ended up years later in N.I.

Some before and after headlining pics….











Photos don't really do it justice and it is much better in real life. Put all new clips in and new sunroof beading. Particularly like the way the Newton Commercial kit covers the bit below the rear side windows..
