My unique door cards with a cornish beachy twist.

Post

Living in cornwall is awesome alone, having a cabby and living in cornwall is something else especially in the sunshine.  So i thought why not bring the two together and give her a unique beachy make over.

Ive been looking around to see if anyone else has done anything like this and have come up with nothing. So i had to scratch the head a few times and see what i could come up with.

And this is the results so far…….

Things to come are;
Chrome door pulls
Chrome door lever
JL audio component speakers in the front with tweeters mounted in the dash which is being flockd. http://www.jlaudio.co.uk/product/54216.104258.103584.56909.0/99620/_/C2-525
flocking above the door card where the cap use to be.

I'm guessing you're leaving them wood!? Pretty cool!! You should get loads of chrome on the car! A Roofrack! Surfboard! And lower with nice wide wheels! I'd say it would look even more beachy after that!!

Yea leaving the wood exposed. Like how the grain runs. Pretty expensive wood as well, so be a shame to cover up. My intentions are to go chrome everywhere. Im keen for a roof rack is there some available in chrome?

No need to put a surfboard on the roof when you can have one as a mirror!
I don't know much about the cabby roofracks I'm afraid, there was a lovely wood and chrome one for a tin top for sale not long ago that would have suited them door cards perfect!!! The wood reminds me of the sort you get on skateboards, you gonna have the speakers mounted on the inside of the hole or outside??

With the beachy theme I just had the image of stripey beach loungers in my mind, like what you see in Whitby and the like  O_o

Looking good mate. I see what you mean about the grain in the ply. It is Marine Ply though is it? Otherwise when it gets damp (and it will, after all it rains in Cornwall most days!) it'll delaminate.

Let me know when you need a hand with the install ;)

No need, but i will struggle to surf that in the sea!!!
Yea i know what you mean about the skateboard. I wasn't to sure how it was going to turn out in such a big area and on a golf.
Ive seen people make furniture out of ply and it looks good.
My intentions are to have the speaker dome running from one edge to the other smoothly. like is said that's my intentions :|

I put 4mm marine ply on the 1st sheet with the clips on and then 4mm birch plywood as the one on show (the more expensive) and just sandwiched them together.

I will let you know mate as it won't be long:)

bit of heat from a hairdryer (yours or the missus'), give it a scrape with some plastic tool of some sort. Should get the worst off. Then a rag dipped in white spirits should get the remainder off. Not a five minute job though.

then some polish and wax to make it noce and shiny and to protect the paint work.
