Firstly I accidentally removed the photo of the ex manifold so will put that back on.
Secondly the bulkhead where the clutch cable goes had the usual damage and a stick on repair panel had been poorly welded on.  So I removed that and welded a patch in as I wont need the hole as I will be going hydraulic clutch control.  Not finished yet.

So, wasn't sure manifold would fit and as I had an offer I sold it on ( didn't lose any money on the deal, how unusual).  Now what to fit, decided on as photo,  pretty obvious that's not a k04 fitting so plan is adaptor plate and 90 degree bend which should allow me to fit turbo up, down, sideways,  what ever suits best.  Shame manifold dosnt actually fit with out a few mm being removed from the edge with the bolt perched on. Decided to not use this, sold it on.

Great work!

So ive bought a spare steering column (in case it dosnt work) and an after market master cylinder so I can start on the clutch hydraulics. Also got some new s/column bearings, not shown,  which will be fitted.  Just had a look, it seems my first plan of having the m/c inside the car pointing backwards mean I would have to lose the heater vent pipe which I'm not prepared to do.  Think I will have to mod the pedal so it hinges from the top and then mount the m/c outside the bulkhead, without having the engine fitted not sure how much room I have. Now getting fed up with this again, seems more like a weight around my neck (is that a proper saying ?) instead of something I enjoy, guess that's old age.

So my first thought was to have the clutch pedal hinge from the very top, this was so I could have the pushrod I will be fitting actually above the column/uj as the clutch pedal is very close to this and I didn't think there was room.
However this meant a lot of fabrication so I decided to move the pedal over about 5mm which is what I think is all it will require. This I achieved by cutting a bit of one side and welding it on the other side.  The photo should show what I mean,  left one is a standard pedal.  The brass bar is just to hold them together for photo.  Will have more welds.

Finally got the clutch master cylinder in, I have seen this area hammered (nearly) flat and cyl mounted, but its quite thin here and as the clutch cable sometimes pulls through I decided to weld in a piece of thicker metal. Weld hidden with a skim of filler to make it look one piece.

Hello mate, wont be next season. still need (cause I am now old and feeble) power steering conversion, exhaust system, after market ecu, inter cooler and pipework, k04 overhaul, few other bits and pieces,   easy  £2000 plus I reckon and the time when I actually feel like doing it.  As every other suspension component is new I thought I may as well do the lot, so new rack, steering arms and rubber gaiters bought now.

So finally decided?

If you change your mind again I've got a 1272cc GT engine here……. should be good for about 100hp!

Find another one and you'll have your desired 200hp.  :P
