Moredoor 24V VR6 4Motion Turbo (Project BahnStorm)

Yes, I'm pretty much as insane as that sounds!

So this little gem is the base for my first proper project!

So I thought I would go all out and build a car I really want! Initially I planned to put my ABF in it with a smallish turbo and a Quaife ATB LSD, BUT rather than creating a track monster, I wanted a long distance mile muncher, a GT if you can imagine it! The plan was to have it properly sound deadened with good seats and a smart interior, all seats etc still installed, with a nice KW suspension set up and a mint paint job inside and out. I say initially because since i decided on that I may have bought a Rallye rear beam and haldex set up! So LSD is now AWD instead! While picking the kit up i was also shown a pretty big turbo with some impressive results on a 2L! I then thought about the engine, although the ABF is a beast of an engine which would go really well, the only engine that I have truly always wanted is a VR6/R32 of some sort. An awful lot of people will well you it's far too heavy and not worth the effort even though they have never tried it! This didn't bother me, I don't ever throw cars around corners, because I know I would cry if i wrapped it neatly around a tree! The main reason for not going for it in the first pace was the cutting and welding required….which I've now ignored as the cars going to be cut up anyway to fit the Haldex and 6 speed, so why not go all the way?! The turbo is staying so the power is going to be…"reasonable", but the original idea of a proper "Bahn Stormer" is staying, it's still going to have a proper, quiet exhaust, comfy seats and a nice ride, just with a little twist!

I have sold my ABF and al the bits with it, and am picking a 24V VR6 up in a week or so, and a DRP 6 speed gearbox to match it should be delivered around the same time! Hopefully in a few weeks after that my friends workshop will be available and we can begin the fun!

Would be interesting to hear your thoughts!

Yes, I know that a simple ABF on it's own would be quick for a Mk1 around the lanes etc etc…but I'm not after that so don''t spend too much time trying to convince me ;)Jack

Cheers! For £500 she's a good buy, solid as a rock, just has a few patches then need to be fixed when the body work is done!

The DRP box arrived last week! But the best part, i checked the code on the so called "spare" gearbox and it too is  DRP! WIN!

Thats the current state of the bay after the old ABF was hauled out and returned to the owner! Oil!

My old ABF that was for this is being taken on Sunday to clear some room and make some cash! Next I need to buy the mounts and wait for the workshop, then its off to be test fitted and welded!

Unfortunately for you the colour isn't staying the same, I'm not a huge fan and she needs a full respray even if i did like the colour!

Somehow, for the second time I have managed to bag a really clean engine! Surprisingly low amount of leaks full stop and from what I can see so far, the cams are in excellent condition, not bad for £200!
