Haha yeah it needed to go, got a transporter booked for the 8th to bring the mk1 home….but I might end up bringing something back a bit more orange and 70s depending on how I feel

Stripped my coilovers and rebuilt them last week. Coming home friday (finally!) to revise for uni exams, but might get a bit distracted this weekend and make a start on taking the mk1 apart.

Nipped to the market today to buy some paint. Somehow managed to find a pair of new brembo G60 discs for a quid. Also nabbed myself a mint condition gear gaiter and a early 4spd gearknob for the princely sum of 50p

Gave the RMs a final polish




Also refurbed 2 of my cups in the same paint I did the RMs in. Still waiting for the paint to harden so will polish those up later.


However it looks like they won't be of any use to me as i'm going with the G60/VR6 brake set up which won't fit under 14s!

Which market is this Nosmonkey? I'd like some G60 discs for a quid as well!! I'll give you £2 for yours so you can double your money, if you like?

Rainham market matey, always pick up some good deals from there, got a mint single light gti grill complete for a tenner

The  mk1s parking spot has been taken over by something older, a lot rustier and with a V8.
Only cost me £80 and didn't even need a transporter. Just pushed it down the road

The 2nd one   It's a right mess though

Was hoping to fix it up but after putting the jack through the chassis and dismembering part of the bulkhead trying to pull the bonnet lever I think it's safer to break it for parts.

Well Here it is as we found her



Cleared off the rubbish to see someone had tried to prise the boot open, dunno why as it opened after the lock was persuaded by arubber mallet  

Got the tyres pumped up (one of which promptly burst point blank next to me and may or may not have caused a small amount of wee to come out), fitted the spare wheel one and dragged it out.



Found all the trims/lights etc. in the boot, car is complete except for the bumpers. Just a shame is chassis is rotten beyond repair as the panels are decent (except the boot lid )

Interior is in very nice condition and there is some nice goodies like a full stainless steel exhaust and decent chromework (!)

I can see why it was £80 now! lol Yep tyres going off does make wee come out!  

G60 brake adaptors are winging their way over to me as we speak, just need to pick up some 288mm calipers and carriers now!


Turns out the staaaaag has brand new front wings, door skins and rear valance. Arches just had surface rust but the hardtop locks had rusted up and ended up rocking it back and forth, at which point the B and C pillars promptly fell off the car      

Gave the wings and doors a rub down and primer, just looks like they've been spot welded on so will drill them out, pop off the panels and call mr scrappy.

You should still earn a few quid off it so it's not all bad !

Yeah, would've been nice to save it but I don't have the time or patience to do all the work it needs! Shame as the car was surrounded by plastic sheets, if the guy had covered the car with a few it would've been saveable

Don't know what you are worried about pretty much as they left the factory in the 70's!  Lovely sounding engines though.
