Mk1 Golf GTI Lhasa Green

So I thought I would continue on from my newbie page and create a blog on the detailing of my mk1 gti. Starting with the head rebuild with new valves, stem seals and the head skimmed, refurbished and painted.















Couple of weeks later the car failed its MOT because the front shocks had not been secured into the struts properly so in the 10 months of ownership i had covered all those miles with a dangerous car according to VW. Had to move quickly to make sure the car was re MOT'd within 10 working days. Luckily found a set of std second hand full setup suspension. So straight swap it was and it couldn't have been easier. The car currently looks like its on a permanent hill as its normally on koni springs and shocks. The struts are currently being refurbished with the threads being re cut to produce the best engagement. Then to the shot blasters and finally a powder coat in Satin Black. Should have them back in a couple of weeks. My koni shocks are going to be sent away for refurbishment to Raceline on Monday hopefully can be refurbished otherwise its a couple hundred for new koni adjustable front shocks. Pictures will be up once they are finished.
