Mk1 golf gti, 2L 16v, OZ turbo's. R1 Carbs

Any chance you can tell me when you first did the conversion where you wired the water temp sender and oil pressure sender and what colour wires they are as its the last bit I need to do great job by the way.

What loom are you using mate?

Water temp sender is on the side of the head and oil pressure senders are on the top of the oil filter bracket(yellow wire and maybe a blue)

oil light?
Theres a high and a low pressure sender on the oil filter housing. Perhaps you have it on the wrong 1 mate

Not done as much as i'd of liked due to the cold or being side tracked by other things. Few pic's though

Welded a couple of baffles in the sump

New oil pump and windage tray fitted

Cut and re-positioned an alloy kr front water flange so that it would clear the carbs. Then had it tigged up

Underside of the car and rear wheel arches are now painted in por15. Will do the rest of the underside at a later date, maybe next winter.

Also sorted the fuel filler hole before refitting the rear coilovers and exhaust back box.

While its been raining, i got my VR front brakes painted and also set about repairing the Black corrado fronts seats.

Sorted the Drivers by replacing the back part as the tilt lever was broken then used the Foam from a passenger seat to sort the bolsters out. The original black material was fine so they are both in good shape now.

Rado seats have extra plates on the rear subframe legs which tend to catch the carpet on mk1's so i set about removing them. Was at this time that i looked at chopping more metal out that was not actually needed.

Original rado subframe

And what i did

I actually weighed them and have managed to lose just under 1kg per subframe. Could've been more but my local DIY store did'nt have any Metal hole saws in stock.

Gave them a damn good hoovering(dog hair) and a clean with autoglym upholstery cleaner. Could do witha wet vac to make better though.

Now fitted after i totally hoovered the car out of all the crap thats been flying about since i took it of the road.

Started fitting my 280mm brakes

Pic's of drivers side

Because i used stainless BBS RM bolts when i refurbed the OZ turbo's, the extra thread caught on the calipers. Used 35 dremel cutting disc's to shorten them a little so the wheel would go on. Awaiting on another stack of disc's so i can sort the passenger side.

Maybe MOT time on saturday then drive it to my new workshop for paint  :D

Cheers mate. It's now ready for an Mot

The brakes are from an early mk3 golf vr6(same as g60) using adaptors on the mk1 hubs. Discs are obviously g60 and as are the pads

Update time

I rattle canned the primered areas and put the car back together just so i could get it MOT'd and legal to drive to my unit where it'll be painted. I also raised it on the front and fitted a CL spoiler for clearance on the rollers.

It passed yesterday morning  :)

I've also been refurbing some bits to the ABF engine and i've stripped the head down ready for cleaning and rebuilding
