Some work Dave but its coming along nicely and great to see it getting done properly.
It will be cracking when its finished.
I hope you have been saving hard :-/
Can't wait to see it :-)
Cheers Chris,
Yes, taking longer than expected due to extent of surprises/corrosion.
Bodyshop are real perfectionists and are doing a great shop, and I would thoroughly recommend them.
Unfortunately though, time is money as they say, so its costing a lot more than I had budgeted for.

Its time to post up an update.
The shell has now been sprayed its final colour and the guys at the bodyshop have done an incredible job, particularly with the wings which had all the rust cut out and new steel grafted in, they have then been sprayed with a rubber compound sealer on the underside including the inner wings. They will be bolted to the shell with all new bolts and washers.
The hatch and bonnet are still in primer and will be sprayed next week in preparation for its return home in a few weeks, the rear arches will be sprayed with the rubber compound and a repair to the floor area.
I will be re-building her in a temporary structure which was erected in the back garden this afternoon, and will be used initially to spray or repair items for the re-build.
Prior to the shell being trailored home, the doors, bonnet and hatch will be re-fitted and the glass to make her as watertight as possible.
Anyway, here are the latest pictures which I hope you like.
Cheers
Davie

I'm liking the temporary structure, although I bet the wife isn't too happy about it
Best of luck getting sorted.

Yesterday was an absolutely brilliant day. Spent most of it in the bodyshop re-building the driver.
Firstly, using the old rope trick, we fitted the two rear windows, then I assembled the doors and fitted the glass and handles complete with finger plates, the doors having just been hung. Next was the two front wings and chrome bolts which took a wee while to get the swage line and seams to line up.
We then stood back and admired, because for the first time since Oct 2012, it was starting to look like a car again, and it was a great feeling to be putting things back together and not stripping things off.
The only downside was, I got so engrossed that I completely forgot to take any photos - doh
I'm going back early next week to continue the re-build, whilst the bodyshop guys are polishing and fitting the freshly painted bonnet and hatch.
Will defo take pictures next time.
My heart was in my mouth all day in case I scraped the new paintwork, but great fun all the same Can't wait til next week
Cheers

Had a further session at the bodyshop, fitting glass (all complete) including new windscreen thanks to National windscreens, both door handles and finger plates and waist trim, although, trying to push the new clips/pins into place is causing me heart failure, as it feels like I'm going to dent a panel. Has anyone else had experience of this ?
Recovery vehicle is booked for next week although the bodyshop still has a few items to spray for me, but that won't stop the car from coming home.
The paint finish is absolutely superb, even though it still has to be machine polished after the re-build Cheers
David

WTH!! What happened there mate
Storms last night.
Twisted the aluminium frame and shredded the canvas cover at junctions.
I had it weighted down at ground level with bricks thankfully, or it might have taken off instead of destroying itself.
Thankfully car not inside as not due for collection til middle of this week
Cheers
